Paul Olyslager is a UX designer from Belgium with a focus on data driven design. He wanted to test the impact of changing the heading of his (affliate) book list.
Hypothesis
Changing the heading from 'RECOMMENDED BOOKS’ to ‘POPULAR UX BOOKS’ will increase the number of clicks on the resources.
Results
Paul tested 4 different headings compared to the control ‘RECOMMENDED BOOKS’.
The winning heading was ‘POPULAR UX BOOKS’:
FAVORIE UX BOOKS |
-7% clicks |
POPULAR UX BOOKS |
+8% clicks |
MY BOOK COLLECTION |
-43% clicks |
MOST POPULAR BOOKS |
-19% clicks |
Learnings
‘Popular’ referring to what other visitors like is working better then what Paul likes (My collection). This is a similar finding as in the article heading test. It is not clear why ‘Most popular’ is doing worse then ‘Popular’.
