Paul Olyslager is a UX designer from Belgium with a focus on data driven design. He wanted to test the impact of changing the heading of his resouces list.

Hypothesis

Changing the headline from 'LATEST RESOURCES’ to ‘RESOURCES ON UX’ will increase the number of clicks on the resources.

Results

Paul tested 3 different headings compared to the control ‘LATEST RESOURCES’.
The winning headline was RESOURCES ON UX:

RESOURCES ON UX +305% clicks
COMMUNITY NEWS ON UX & USABILITY +153% clicks
LATEST RESOURCES ON USABILITY & UX -9% clicks

Learnings

‘Resources on UX’ may be a more specific – more relevant – than ‘latest resources’. But this type of result is difficult to explain and generalize. Why would ‘LATEST RESOURCES ON USABILITY & UX’ get less clicks …?
